About the work
アフメドというキャラクターが現代社会をユーモアと音楽で包んで語るお話です。アフメドは移民をモチーフにしたキャラクターで、仮面をつけて演じられます。しかし、そのキャラクターは特定の誰か、特定の民族をあらわしてはいません。誰でもあり、誰でもない、普遍的な誰かなのです。様々な楽器と歌のライブパフォーマンス、多様な音楽が作品をいろどり、多言語で演じられるこの作品の奥には「人種差別に対する哲学的な問い」が流れています。
「アフメド」は 1990 年代にフランスで生まれた演劇のキャラクターです。仮面をつけている彼の姿には、フランスの古典喜劇に登場する有名なキャラクター「アルルカン」の面影を見ることができます。アフメドはかつてのアルルカンのように、大衆の代表として権力者や社会の矛盾をユーモアと機転で鋭くついていきます。世界が困難になっている今、アフメドは再び語りはじめます。この作品にオリジナル楽曲を提供する音楽家、野村誠とのコラボレーションも見どころです。
Ahmed comes back, words & music is a project that involves the intersection of several disciplines: theater, music, philosophy, and politics. The work begins with an exploration of both textual and musical writing. The central subject of the project will be the philosophical question of racism, conveyed through humor and the mechanics of laughter. The challenge will be to observe how an insular culture like that of Japan might consider such an endeavor.

ディディエ・ガラス
［フランス］
パリのコンセルバトワールにおいて、クロード・レジ、マリオ・ゴンザレス、ベルナール・ドートらに師事する。1990年代日本と中国で能と京劇を学ぶ。2000年にアヴィニヨン演劇祭において “Monnaie de singes” （英題 “Funny Money” 邦題「猿芝居」）を発表。
2001年 “Le petit (H)arlequin” 、そして2010年にその作品の日本語バージョン『アルルカン、天狗に出会う』を発表。2014年9月には日本の俳優・ダンサー・音楽家と共に『ことばのはじまり』（英題 “The Invention of the Word”）を創作し日本で発表した。
A former student at the Conservatoire National Supérieur d’ Art Dramatique in Paris, Didier Galas received his training from, among others, Claude Régy, Mario Gonzales, and Bernard Dort. He continued his education in Japan and China. His contact with Eastern theater would have a particular influence on his work as a director. He first performed “Monnaie de singes” ( “Funny Money” ) at the Avignon Festival in 2000. “Le petit (H)arlequin” ( “The Little [H]arlequin” , 2001) and its Chinese and Japanese versions (2005 and 2010 respectively). He spent many years working in Japan, where he performed “Kotoba no Hajimari” ( “The Invention of the Word” ) in September 2014.
野村誠
演奏・音楽
共同作曲など領域を越境して作曲する。ピアノ、鍵盤ハーモニカを得意とするが、ウイスキーボトルや瓦など、あらゆる物を奏でる。第1回アサヒビール芸術賞など受賞。作品に、ガムラン《踊れ!ベートーヴェン》(1996)、ヴァイオリンと映像のための《だじゃれは言いません》(2013)、荒井良二展のための《new born sounds》(2023)など。舞台音楽に、佐久間新《だんだんたんぼに夜明かしカエル》(2019)、きたまり《棲家》(2022) など。
Composing works that transcend boundaries, such as collaborative compositions. He specializes in playing the piano and keyboard harmonica, but he can also play all kinds of things, including whiskey bottles and roof tiles. Recipients include the 1st Asahi Beer Art Award.
